Just as any of other online games, RuneScape's chat system has three kinds: “public chat” "clan chat" and "private chat", both of which enables players to interact with others as they like. Most of time, it is Public chat plays role unless you click on “private chat”. Public chat allows players to talk to people in a certain distance while private chat allows players to communicate person to person and clan chat allows a group of people to chat within a virtual channel. All channel should be hold by an owner who can assign different ranks to people across the channel; a player's rank dictates their ability to remove other people from the channel, and to be removed themselves. Besides, there are safeguards who can remove your malicious words in order to protect players from receiving verbal abuses and clear the virtual world.
Players also have access to an "Ignore List". If one player adds another player to their Ignore List, the first player will not see any messages from the "ignored" player. If a player is found to have used inappropriate language in the game, then they may be "muted" temporarily or permanently, either by a member of Jagex's staff or by a player who has been granted Player Moderator privileges. If a player is muted then they are unable to talk freely, but may still use a "Quick Chat" system. This system allows any player, even players who are not muted, to automatically generate common words and phrases which are displayed to other players like normal messages.
In order to prevent young players from any inappropriate language, there is also an age limit in RuneScape where players below thirteen cannot talk freely. These young players can just talk with "Quick Chat" until they reach thirteenth. There are also special worlds in which all players can only use "Quick Chat" to communicate.
RuneScape is deemed a qualified online game with good reputation and it really deserves our trust from what they have done.
