The Living Rock Caverns in RuneScape are a members-only area. The area was constructed for people of upper levels in Fishing, Cooking, and Mining. Players can find the entrance at the northern part of the Dwarven Mines under Falador and Ice Mountain. There are no quests relating to this area, nor can any be started in the caverns. The cavern was apparently discovered when due to Ice Mountain's peaks melting the running water from melted ice eroded the cavern creating an entrance from the Dwarven Mine. It is however a dangerous area due to the fact that it is guarded by level 120 to 200 Living rock creatures, so skilling here may very well be interrupted regularly. To access the Living Rock Caverns you need to enter the caverns at the northern end of the Dwarven Mine.
Mining
Requirements:
73 Mining (to mine living rock remains)
77 Mining (to mine concentrated coal deposits)
80 Mining (to mine concentrated gold deposits)
The concentrated gold and coal rocks are special rocks that can yield up to two ores at a time. Mining double ores provides double experience, unlike the extra ore using the Varrock armour 2 or 3. There are 4 concentrated gold rocks and 8 concentrated coal rocks within Living Rock Cavern. Unlike all other rocks these do not run out of ore, and instead they are collapsed by the stomping and fist pounding of the Living rock creatures. Other "rocks" found in the cavern are the remains of the Living Rock monsters. These are found directly after a kill. The remains are minable by other players after a one minute delay. The remains contain between 5 and 20 living minerals which can be traded, sold, or used for bait when fishing rocktail. Players receive 25 mining experience for mining Living Rock remains.
Fishing
There are two types of fish can be caught in the Living Rock Caverns: Cavefish and Rocktail.
Rocktail require fishing level of 90 and give 380 experience per catch. Rocktail heal 23 hitpoints and can heal you up to 10 hitpoints higher than your maximum. This makes it the best single-bite food in the game. Eating rocktail raw (using the Bunyip's Swallow whole scroll) does not currently give over-maximum bonus hitpoints.
Cavefish require fishing level of 85 and give 300 experience per catch, caught with standard bait and rod. Cavefish heal 20 Hitpoints and give a +2 boost to either Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged or Magic; eating cavefish raw (using the bunyip swallow whole scroll) does not currently give the +2 bonus.
Cooking
You cannot cook here without making a fire. You need level 88 to cook cavefish and level 93 to cook rocktail.
Fighting
The ability to defeat level 120+ foes would be a distinct advantage.
The caverns contain several Living rock protectors (level 120, uses melee) and Living rock strikers (level 140, uses range at a distance and always melees up close). The Living rock patriarch (level 200, uses melee) randomly spawns every hour or so. Below (from left to right) are the living rock protector, the living rock striker and the living rock patriarch. All of them are aggressive. The whole cavern is a single way combat area. Note that the Living rock protectors are aggressive, but don't attack unless you come quite close.
Farli's Camp
In the central part of the cavern Farli has set up camp. There also a handy pulley lift. Players can use this device to deposit items directly into their bank, just like a deposit box. This is where Farli resides and where you will appear when you enter the dungeon from the Dwarven Mine. Here is also a rope that you can climb back to the Dwarven Mines.
